The partnership between the Tourism ministry and the Israeli professional cycling team was announced today.

The goal: promoting tourism to Israel in new target audiences.

In a press conference held today in Kuurne, Belgium, the Israel Ministry of Tourism and Israel Cycling Academy, announced their partnership for 2017.

The decision of the Israeli ministry of Tourism to invest in the Israeli non-profit Cycling team comes following its long-running TV campaign on EUROSPORT during the broadcast of the races on the UCI pro racing calendar in the past 3 years.

"We see great value in the world of Pro Cycling as a platform to reach larger crowds all over the world", said the CEO of the Israeli ministry of Tourism, Mr, Amir Halevi.

“The huge international reach of cycling and its ability to connect people to brands, stories and landscapes, serve as a great platform for us to empower our successful campaign: “Tel-Aviv Jerusalem – Two cities, One Break”: http://en.citiesbreak.com/

The campaign invites people to visit Israel’s most vivid cities: Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Both cities are known for being “Cycling Cities”, with many cycling paths, and a variety of sports events frequently taking place.

“We believe that cycling has a unique ability to reach people through emotion and entertainment. The decision to team up with Israel Cycling Academy was therefore natural for us. We share multiple values with the first Israeli Pro Cycling Team and we see their athletes and management as great ambassadors of our campaign”.

The Non-profit Israeli cycling team has demonstrated it’s success & innovative approch in many facets and shares multiple values with the Israeli ministry of Tourism:

Carrying both the youngest and the most international Pro-Continental team roster in the world, Israel Cycling Academy features a 16 men roster of riders coming from 12 different nationalities.

"Like Israel, the team is a melting pot of many cultures and nationalities", said Israel Cycling Academy founder Ron Baron, “We are ambitious and very passionate about our unique mission. While focus on growing with our young athletes

towards the world's highest levels, we also aim to use our team as a story- telling platform to introduce the world to our beautiful country and it's unique story”.

Israel Cycling Academy was established at the end of 2014 as a Non- profit foundation focusing on giving an opportunity to young riders coming from countries without a cycling tradition. Following 2 years of racing as a Continental team, the Israeli team stepped up to the Pro-Continental ranks in 2017, with an aim to reach the Tour de France by 2019.

The team trains in Israel and competes all over the world in the UCI Pro racing circuit. In the past 2 years, the team won 15 UCI races and 9 national championship titles all over the world.
