Israel Cycling Academy signs Australia’s Nathan Earle
The latest signing in a dramatically upgraded roster

Tel Aviv. October 21st.

Australian Nathan Earle becomes Israel Cycling Academy latest signing in it’s quest to complete a revamped and dramatically upgraded roster to face it’s ambitious upcoming 2018 season.

The upcoming season is a pivotal year for Israel Cycling Academy as the team looks to compete in its first grand tour. With the Giro d’Italia kicking off in Israel, the squad is eager to bolster its ranks. Earle also sees 2018 as an extra special opportunity. “For me this is the biggest signing of my career. I can’t wait to race back in Europe and have the challenge of racing some of the biggest races again. I couldn’t think of a better team to do this with and I am looking forward to the journey. I believe I am yet to see the best of my ability and am excited to see how far I can push myself whilst growing with Israel Cycling Academy.”

The 29-year-old who has signed a 2 years contract with the Israeli outfit,  said he is proud to join the squad where his previous World Tour experience will be put to good use. As an all-rounder, expect to see Earle tackling anything from one-day spring classics to stage races. “I love a good lumpy one-day race and getting into the mountains.”

Kjell Carlström, sports director, said that Earle’s specific role, “will be defined during the year. My idea is that he can continue to grow as a rider, seize his chances in some races, and be a valuable helper for Ben [Hermans] and Ruben [Plaza] in some hillier and tougher races!”  The Belgian and the Spanish riders, both winners in World Tour races, have recently signed with ICA and expected to lead the squad in the toughest racing schedule the team has ever faced.

Like many athletes, Earle has experienced setbacks and injuries in his career. Rather than let these negative moments define him, he uses them to find a way forward. “It’s how you weather the storms and tough times that make you a better person and athlete and make winning that much sweeter when you come out the other side. I believe in hard work and when a win, or even a teammate’s win, comes from that hard work it’s a feeling you don’t forget.”

Earle has spent two years ( 2014 and 2015) riding for World Tour “ Team Sky”. This season, riding with Team UKYO , he Won the Tour of Lombok
and finished second overall in the Tour of Japan.

While the Tasmanian already has a decade of experience racing internationally, he is just as passionate now about the sport as when he first started. “I started riding a bike from a young age purely for the freedom and fun it provided me. Even as a young kid, when I wasn’t racing, riding my bike provided me with an outlet to explore, challenge and push myself. Not much has changed!”

Israel Cycling Academy was founded in December 2014 in Jerusalem as Israel’s first professional cycling team with a clear vision to help Israeli cycling and to bring young cyclists, especially Israelis, to the top levels of the sport. The 2017 season was the team’s first in the Pro Continental ranks.
